Gurugram has over 300 registered Resident Welfare Associations. Together, they represent millions of citizens, manage thousands of crores in common area assets, and have direct interfaces with MCG, GMDA, DHBVN, and Haryana Police. They are, in many ways, the most potent civic institution in the city — and yet most operate well below their potential.
The most successful RWAs in Gurugram share common traits: strong, transparent governance; regular communication with members; engagement with MCG officials on specific, documented issues; and a culture of volunteerism. The Annual RWA Conclave that Gurgaon First has been organising since 2013 consistently shows that when RWAs share learnings, outcomes improve dramatically.
